Similar ovoid storage jars were used throughout the 1700βs. Made of a specially formulated stoneware clay to handle liquids, so they are perfect for pickling as well as for dry storage. These pottery jars were usually covered with a piece of cloth, paper, leather, or bladder. Handthrown by our potter here in Indiana. 6-1/2β tall by 5β in diameter. Holds a little over a quart. Food-safe, lead-free glaze.
